The Dublin Metropolitan Region (DMR) South Division Garda Youth Awards were launched at Tallaght Luas stop on the 24th of October 2018. This is the first time the awards have been conducted for DMR South. We were delighted with the response to the call for nominations, receiving a diverse range of nominations for individuals and groups of young people between the ages of 13 – 21 years who are contributing positively to their local communities.
The deadline for nominations for the awards was Friday November 31st 2018.

The judging for the awards took place in Crumlin Garda station on Thursday the 13th of December 2018, with a select panel of community representatives deciding on the winning nominations. Those conducting the judging on the day were Inspector Paul Sargent, former Dublin GAA player John McCarthy, Sister Bernadette Sweeney of St Agnes’ Musical Society, Sergeant Deirdre Conway, and Mary Dennehy of the Tallaght Echo. Our Transdev representatives for the Youth Awards judging panel- driver Mary McCaffrey and SRP Co-ordinator Damien Woods- were both part of the judging panel on the day.
The awards ceremony will take place in early February.
