Operation ‘Twin Tracks’ – Days of Action for the prevention and detection of anti-social behaviour on Luas, Dart and Rail Routes

An Garda Síochána in conjunction with Irish Rail and Luas operators are launching the second day of Operation “Twin Tracks“ which will take place on 29th July 2022. An Garda Síochána will initiate this national “Community Engagement & Rail Safety Partnership” day of operation in partnership with Irish Rail (DART and InterCity rail) and Transdev Ireland (Luas).

The objectives of this initiative are;

  • To ensure public safety by addressing anti-social behaviour Protecting life and property
  • To engage with the public and provide crime prevention advice
  • To support Irish Rail and Transdev personnel in tackling these issues Vindicating the human rights of each individual
  • Preventing crime, bringing criminals to justice, through the detection and investigating of crime, and improving rail safety.

The two primary elements to the plan are ‘Community Engagement’ and ‘Rail Safety’, which will be achieved by high visibility public engagement and delivery of crime prevention advice. High Visibility Patrolling will concentrate on Rail and Light Rail transport within the DMR Region and nationwide on intercity routes and will operate between the hours of 3pm and 11pm.

Crime Prevention delivery will involve public engagement by all personnel involved and crime prevention stands based at intercity routes and two Dublin City stations (Connolly & Heuston).
