For the last number of weeks, schools from areas around Dublin such as Ballyogan, Broombridge, and Inchicore have been taking part in ‘Breakfast Club with Luas’. This initiative brings children who would otherwise not get the opportunity to learn about their food and where it comes from at Airfield Estate in Dundrum.
The children experience what it is like to collect their own eggs, watch the Jersey cows be milked, set the table, and sit down to enjoy the taste of a simple meal of fresh eggs, bread, and milk.
The response to the programme has been extremely positive, with an Airfield Estate representative saying:
“The breakfast clubs are going really well and the feedback has been fantastic… The kids are loving it and are finding it really engaging.
We are hugely grateful to Luas and Transdev who have sponsored this programme & also brought the children to Airfield on the Luas”
Special thanks are due to Driver Michelle McDonald who represented us at the Breakfast Club mornings to share travel and Luas safety tips with each of the classes involved.
