French Ambassador to Ireland, Vincent Guérend, visited Sandyford Luas Depot today, Thursday 15th July, to highlight the close relationship between Transdev Dublin Light Rail Ltd. and France. As a French mobility company, we bring our global expertise to Luas, and contributing to the sustainable economic and social growth of Dublin City.
Today’s visit by Ambassador Guérend allowed Transdev to showcase our work here in Ireland and our close ties with other French firms involved in operating and maintaining Luas. We also discussed work we at Transdev are doing around sustainable development, involving very close links to our colleagues in France and around the world.
Earlier this year Transdev was awarded certification in ISO 50001 (Energy Management) by SGS, the first time Luas has achieved this standard. This is an award we are immensely proud of, and one which is rooted in our commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 30% together with a 32.5% improvement in overall energy efficiency by 2030. This will represent an important contribution to the Irish government’s ambitious plans for the years ahead.
Seamus Egan, Managing Director of Transdev Dublin Light Rail, said: “Achieving this certification in Dublin is all the more rewarding for us at Transdev as it embodies our global strategy Moving You.” This strategy is based around five pillars:

Mr Egan added: “receiving the certification was 15 years in the making and it has been superb teamwork which got us there. This certification not only shows our commitment to our client, Transport Infrastructure Ireland, but also the wider community, Luas commuters and the people of Dublin.”
