The Luas #helpfillatram initiative collected over 9,000 gifts, 350 meals and 60 haircuts for the homeless yesterday at the Connolly Luas Stop.

Transdev Ireland partnered up again this year with Inner City Helping Homeless for the Christmas Shoe Box Appeal 2016.
2015 was the first time Transdev Ireland teamed up with Inner City Helping Homeless and ran the very successful event to collect shoe boxes for the homeless at Christmas time.
Shoe boxes were kindly donated by Transdev staff, companies and the public alike, whilst food and haircuts were provided to homeless people on the day. The shoe boxes were distributed by Inner City Helping Homeless, directly to people on the streets at night time and through the numerous shelters across Dublin City.
In 2016, the number of families left homeless has increased (almost 1,000 families in Dublin alone)
Last year a total of 3,000 shoe boxes were collected. The aim this year was to collect over 5,000.
Transdev Ireland hit their target by collecting over 9,000 gift-filled shoe boxes for the homeless.

There was an overwhelming response from the public with many companies and schools donating mass amounts of shoe boxes.

The #helpfillatram was trending on twitter for the entire day as third most popular hash tag in Ireland. There was even a couple of celebrities getting involved on twitter.

Transdev Ireland is delighted with the results and look forward to next years initiative.
Well done to all involved!
