Transdev, Operator of Luas, was proud to sponsor a Youth Football Tournament in partnership with St Patrick’s Athletic Football Club, which took place on Tuesday 10th and Wednesday 11th August.
The two-day event was held at Richmond Park, home of St Patrick’s Athletic Football Club, with UEFA-qualified coaches overseeing the tournament.
Teams of young people aged 12-14 years old from local youth services came together to compete in the football tournament, which was followed by an award ceremony after the final game on Wednesday 11th August.
David Morrissey, Community Officer with St. Patrick’s Athletic FC said of the partnership:
‘We would like to thank Transdev and Luas for partnering with St Pat’s to provide an outlet for local young people during what has been a challenging summer. Luas has demonstrated a real commitment to supporting our community and the Luas Tournament is a wonderful way to bring young people together safely in a fun and enjoyable manner and to celebrate the areas in which they live.’
Seamus Egan, Managing Director of Transdev Dublin Light Rail said of the event:
‘We are proud to support this tournament with St. Patrick’s Football Club – itself an integral part of this community – local to the Luas Red Line. Community-led initiatives like this provide an important outlet for young people and demonstrate the importance of community spirit. Well done to all who took part and sincere thanks to St. Pat’s for hosting this Tournament.’
The event was held in line with HSE and Department of Health COVID-19 guidelines.
